Lab Information

The Janet A. Essary Drug Court Laboratory is a DATIA Accredited Collection Facility. It is located on the 4th floor of the Polk County Courthouse in Bartow, FL. The Lab conducts observed urine specimen collections and testing for Problem Solving Court participants, defendants/litigants in all court divisions, parties engaging in services within the child-welfare system, as well as the general public. Test results are guaranteed within 48 hours, and in most cases, are provided within a few hours.

The lab currently utilizes a Beckman Coulter AU680 analyzer to perform EMIT analyzation. Staff members are extensively trained in specimen collection procedures and operation of all lab equipment used to conduct urinalysis testing. Staff members receive continuous training regarding drugs of abuse, adulteration methods and products used to falsify urine testing.

Specimen collection and testing performed on subjects outside of the Problem Solving Court programs are assessed a fee payable to the Clerk of Court. Depending on the type of test requested, the fee may range from $15.00-$50.00 per test.

  • Methadone
  • Opiates
  • K2
  • Oxycodone
  • Breathalyzer also available

For confirmations and further testing, specimens may be sent to an independent laboratory for an
additional fee of $65 per confirmation.

A valid photo ID is required for all lab services.
