Law Library


The on-site Polk County Law Library that is located on the 3rd floor of the Polk County Courthouse will close to the public on March 18, 2020 and will remain closed until further notice.

As a result, our on-site Self-Help clinics and Lawyer in the Library events are cancelled until further notice. However, we will continue to offer remote services and research assistance. To contact the Polk County Law Library, please call 863-534-4013.

For questions related to legal aid services, Heart of Florida Legal Aid Society may be reached at 863-519-5663 and Florida Rural Legal Services may be reached at 863-688-7376.

The Stephen H. Grimes Law Library, a participant in the Polk County Library Cooperative, contains over 25,000 volumes and documents. Located on the 3rd floor of the Polk County Courthouse in Bartow, it serves not only the legal community, but the entire Polk County population as well. The Librarian and staff continually review the inventory of research materials to ensure the collection is up to date. Additionally, library staff searches and obtains other research materials requested by judges and the legal community. The Law Library also offers Continual Legal Education materials for members of the Florida Bar. For more information on the Law Library and its services, please call (863) 534-4013.
