The Janet A. Essary Drug Court Laboratory is located on the 4th floor of the Polk County Courthouse in Bartow, FL. It is a DATIA Accredited Collection Facility that conducts observed urine specimen collections and testing for Problem Solving Court participants, defendants/litigants in all court divisions, parties engaging in services within the child-welfare system, as well as the general public. All specimens collected and tests performed are assessed a fee that is payable to the Polk County Clerk of Court. Most test results are available within 48 hours.
The lab currently utilizes a Mindray 800 analyzer to perform Immunoassay analyzation. Staff members are extensively trained in specimen collection procedures as well as the operation of all lab equipment used to conduct urinalysis testing. Staff members continually participate in progressive training events that focus on the most up-to-date information regarding drugs of abuse, adulteration methods and products used to falsify urine testing.

- Breathalyzer also available
For result confirmations and further testing, specimens may be sent to an independent laboratory for an additional fee per confirmation.
