The Lakeland Bar Association recently honored Polk County Judge Mary Catherine Green as this year’s recipient of the Oliver and Mona Green Spirit of Giving Award, at the Lakeland Bar Association Bench and Bar Gathering, which took place on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Circuit Judge Susan L. Barber, 2023 award recipient, presented this year’s award to her esteemed colleague and friend. Judge Barber noted that the Honorable Mary Catherine Green was chosen to receive this year’s award for her remarkable service and dedication to the Tenth Judicial Circuit. Elected to the Polk County Court bench in 1998, Judge Green served in multiple divisions, led administrative initiatives, and preserved the circuit’s rich history through the creation of the Tenth Judicial Circuit Florida Historical Society. Judge Green has generously given her time and leadership both on and off the bench, leaving a lasting impact on the legal community. As she retires on July 31st, we honor her legacy and continued commitment to the spirit of community.
